At the January 2015 Fellowship meeting, following a briefing by Rob Robson, it was agreed to support the idea of the new College of Teaching. Here is what we said:
The Associate Educational Fellowship is a group of over 60 Fellows drawn from over 100 educational organisations in Bedford Borough. We value the opportunity to meet regularly in open dialogue and collaboration to improve professional practice.
The proposed College of Teaching, in offering a professional body run by educators for educators sits well with our ideals and we unanimously support the idea of the college.
We would hope that the new college will raise the profile of teachers and the teaching professional as a whole, that the outcomes of any decisions would be decided by practitioners in the classroom and that there will be a level of stability at this difficult time in our political and financial environment.
The Associate Educational Fellowship whole-heartedly supports the idea of the College of Teaching and we look forward to hearing the outcome of this initial consultation.
